This report focuses more on benefits of migration to the country of origin in relation to human capital, skills and knowledge transfer, and the transmission of ideas, norms and practices. While relying on studies from around the world in varying sectors, the report draws in large part on research on Africa and highlights specific research from the health sector. While there are various case studies on potential benefits that can be gained from diaspora contributions and return migration, there is a lack of systematic evidence, which is noted in the literature.
