dc.description This was a collaborative piece between the author and Karen Chouhan, whose work in the field of race relations and empowerment of black communities was evolving to a national level. The intended audience was policy makers, managers, practitioners and students across the whole of the community and criminal justice system. Very little had been written on the specific experiences of ‘black’ victims of crime, within the overall evolving subject area of victimology. The chapter highlights the way in which black and Asian people suffer disproportionate victimisation because of their ‘race’ and receive an insufficient response from responsible agencies.
