dc.description In recent years, America has seen a rise in insider threat related incidents. Insider threats are individual with placement and access to critical infrastructures, military units, and the government and their supporting agencies who have turned against and targeted their parent organization aiding a foreign power or international terrorist organization. Understanding this, this paper analyzes how successful the United States Intelligence Community has been in responding to insider threats. For this thesis, literature will serve as a base for establishing doctrinal knowledge, with interviews, with current members of the IC working on insider threat issues, supplementing knowledge gaps about real world application. This paper has found that US policies in the past five years have made great advances in addressing insider threats problems, but there is room for improvement. These improvements will be difficult to adopt because of the impediments to reform, but are necessary to adequately counter insider threats.
